Ciao,

I’m writing to you with the scent of espresso in the air, the sounds of Vespas and laughter in the piazza below, and the promise of another beautiful Italian day just beginning. Maria is poring over yet another map (she’s decided this is the year for a slow Southern Italy discovery), and, as I sit here on this terrace overlooking terracotta roofs and church spires, I wanted to share a few travel ideas that might inspire your next trip, from ancient streets to cliffside Amalfi Coast towns and across international borders to a charming capital just a short ride away.

A Rome & Amalfi Coast Journey You’ll Remember

If you’ve ever dreamed of combining Italy’s grand history with its jaw-dropping coastal beauty, this is for you. In Rome, you’ll wander through centuries: from the Colosseum and Forum to tossing a coin in the Trevi Fountain and exploring the Vatican City with its astonishing art.

There’s joy in taking it slow: gelato breaks by the fountain, people-watching from a shaded café, and lingering in the Borghese Gardens just because it feels right.

Then, after soaking up la dolce vita in the capital, you head south toward the coastline that seems to have been sculpted just to take your breath away.

Along the Amalfi Coast, you'll stay in Agerola, where sea views greet you every morning and the famous Path of the Gods offers one of Italy’s most unforgettable hikes. Visit Ravello’s gardens and Amalfi’s cathedral, savor local limoncello, and if you’re feeling adventurous, take a boat trip to Capri or linger at one of those picture-perfect little seaside cafés.

This kind of itinerary isn’t just about seeing the highlights; it’s about feeling Italy: its history, its slow rhythm of life. Click, and get started on the trip of a lifetime

Day Trip Delight: Ljubljana from Trieste

Now for a little gem many visitors miss: Ljubljana. If you’re visiting Trieste, Ljubljana makes for a wonderfully easy and rewarding day trip. Just over the border in Slovenia, this compact capital is fabulous.

Imagine strolling along the Ljubljanica River, cafés spilling onto cobbled lanes, and a medieval castle watching over it all. Maria loved how peaceful it felt compared to busier European capitals, and William absolutely loved the funicular ride up to that castle. It’s one of those places that feels familiar and charmingly different at the same time.
