Ciao,

I'm writing from my "desk" in Trieste (actually the kitchen table). I've just returned from a full month in Umbria, and the memories are still fresh: walking through olive groves, sipping wine under vine-covered terraces, and exchanging stories with some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. I’ll be sharing much more about that beautiful region in the coming months.

But today, I wanted to take you to three places I think you'll love, especially if you’re planning your next Italian adventure and want to avoid the usual tourist crush…

Turin’s Cafés – Where Coffee Meets Culture

Forget rushing—Turin cafés are all about slowing down. These grand, historic spots aren’t just places to grab a cappuccino; they’re places to soak up Italian life. I’ve picked out my favorites, especially those where you feel like royalty for the price of an espresso.

You'll find them all here.

7 Italian Riviera Towns – Charm Without the Crowds

Maria and I found that some of the best coastal experiences aren’t in the big-name towns. Instead, places like Noli, Lerici, and Camogli stole our hearts—quiet corners where you can walk the seafront, eat fresh anchovies, and chat with locals in piazzas that still feel authentic.

Click to discover all seven.

Castro on Lake Iseo – A Hidden Treasure?

We stumbled on Castro almost by accident, and what a discovery it was! This peaceful lakeside town is perfect for a few days of recharge. You get incredible views, lovely walks, and a gorgeous lake without the crowds of Garda or Como. Honestly, it’s one of the most relaxing spots I know.

Here's our article about Lake Iseo and the town of Castro.

More stories, travel tips, and new finds from Italy will be landing in your inbox soon.

A presto,
Andrew (with Maria & William)
