B&B Il Girasole a Macerata
by Anne
(Amsterdam)
We stayed for 14 days in a wonderful place in the countryside near Macerata. The house is beautiful and welcoming, but the owners have to have something extra. They welcomed us with kindness and helpfulness and offered us sweets every day and garden products
They have a great site that gives a realistic idea of the place www.casailgirasole.it
Andrew's reply: I went onto their website to have a look and it does indeed look like a really lovely bed and breakfast.
I don't know it myself but I will definitely check them out next time in the area and it would be great to hear from anyone else who might have stayed at the Girasole to hear what they think of it.
One bed and breakfast in the Macerata area that I know well and have no hesitation in recommending is the
Bed and Breakfast Il Giardino Dei Limoni. The name means garden of lemons in English and it is run with such obvious love and passion by a delightful couple.
It might be called a bed and breakfast but it is way better than most hotels. Immersed in nature and looking out across unforgettable scenery.
Add to that the great breakfasts prepared by Maria Antonietta (one half of the owning couple) and a characteristic old villa which has been beautifully restored. The result is that if you stay here you are in for a real treat.
You will need a car though to explore as the Il Giardino Dei Limoni is about seven kilometers outside of Macerata and public transport is limited. I am sure the same would apply to the Girasole Anne? Having recently visited it would be great if you could share a little about how you travelled about and places you visited...maybe even a photo or two?
